During Tuesday's Board meeting, Dr. Alda T. Benavides was named interim superintendent following the Board of Trustees' vote of 5-2 to place Superintendent Dr. Jesus H. Chavez on leave.
The district sincerely thanks Dr. Chavez for his service and dedication to the students, staff, and families of Brownsville. We also warmly welcome Dr. Benavides to Brownsville ISD and we look forward to her leadership as she guides the district until a permanent superintendent is appointed.
