BISD's Dual enrollment program gives students the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school. All early college high schools provide opportunities for dual credit courses, and students can earn up to an associate's degree. 

For all interested students in 8th-11th grade.

BISD Elementary Schools are open until 5:30 PM!

Brownsville ISD will offer the free Extended Day Enrichment Program at all Elementary Schools . The program assists parents with quality enrichment programs for students in grades Kinder through 5th from dismissal to 5:30 PM weekdays.

The Extended Day Enrichment Program provides academic intervention, tutoring, homework assistance, and academic enrichment through art and music activities depending on the individual campuses.

The state's goal for G/T students is to ensure that those students who participate in G/T services demonstrate skills in self-directed learning, thinking, research, and communication. G/T students develop innovative products and sophisticated performances that reflect individuality and creativity and are targeted to an audience outside the classroom.

Advanced Placement is a program run by the College Board (the makers of the SAT) that allows students to take courses at the high school, which can earn them college credit and/or qualify them for more advanced classes when they begin college.

So what are AP courses? They are designed to give students the experience of an intro-level college class while still in high school. Plus, students can earn college credit for the class if they pass the AP exam. AP classes were created in the mid-1950s as a response to the widening gap between secondary school (high school) and college. A pilot program in 1952 had 11 subjects, but AP didn’t officially launch until the 1956 school year, when the College Board took over the program and named it the College Board Advanced Placement Program.

Intra-District (Within District)

When applying for an Intra-District transfer, parents shall upload the following: 

Parents/Guardians:
Please complete the Intra-District Transfer Application for any secondary student zoned to BISD, who wishes to attend a secondary campus outside their zoned area.

Padres/Guardian:
Favor de completar la Solicitud de Traslados de Estudiantes dentro del Distrito para el estudiante de secundaria/preparatoria que desea ingresar a una escuela secundaria/preparatoria fuera de su zona designada.

1. Proof of residence in the parent's name through a current utility bill, utility deposit, unexpired lease, or rent receipt with owner's address and telephone;
2. Parent's photo identification; and
3. Student's school identification number (if applicable).
