Federal Programs/Title I

The Federal Programs/Title I is here to assist in improving the entire instructional program district-wide so that Title I-A students have equal opportunities in the mastery of STAAR to meet Texas' performance standard; to strengthen the parental involvement component at each of the campuses; and to demonstrate a decrease in the high school dropout rate, thereby increasing the graduation rate.

Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Act of 1965 (ESEA) provides local education agencies (LEA's, or school districts) with extra resources to help improve instruction in high-poverty schools and ensure that poor and minority children have the same opportunity as other children to meet challenging State academic standards. The Every Students Succeeds Act (ESSA) reauthorizes the ESEA and incorporates nearly all of the major reforms proposed by President Bush in his own No Child Left Behind framework for education reform, particularly in the areas of assessment, accountability, and school improvement.

Title I, Part A Parental Involvement Program implements programs, activities, and procedures for the involvement of parents in programs assisted under this part consistent with this section. Such programs, activities, and procedures shall be planned and implemented with meaningful consultation with parents of participating children.
