Covid-19 Testing Update:
Based on current COVID-19 trends, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is planning for the federal Public Health Emergency (PHE) for COVID-19 to expire at the end of the day on May 11, 2023. Our response to the spread of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, remains a public health priority, but thanks to our national approach to combatting the virus, we are in a better place in our response than we were three years ago, and we can transition away from the emergency phase.

Similarly, the TEA K-12 Covid-19 testing program is also coming to an end on Friday April 28, 2023.  This will be the last day our BISD Health Services Department will be testing for Covid-19.  Moving forward anyone needing to be tested for Covid-19 will need to go to their medical provider to get tested. Benefits will be covered under Blue Cross Blue Shield and it will be the same as any other benefit such as applicable deductible, co-insurance, and/or co-pay.  BISD will continue to follow the Centers for Disease & Control (CDC) guidelines for those who test positive. Please contact the Employee Benefits Department at (956)548-8061 if you have any questions.
