Learning takes place anywhere not only in the classroom.
Students in Mrs. Chavez's class are given opportunities to learn outside the classroom.
Below, students along with Mrs. Chavez observe and record data regarding the light sensitive beads handed to each student. Click on any picture to view it full size.

Mrs. Chavez hands out the colorless beads

The beads turn colors as when exposed to light

Mrs. Chavez demonstrates the colorful beads

Students gather and record their data

Finding a good place to work

Sharing data

Verifying with the teacher

How do you spell photo reactant?

Pssst! What are we suppose to do?
Students in Mrs. Chavez's class learn science through hands on activities such as the one below. Students are practicing using different measuring equipment as well as, measuring, using the metric system. Students are first given instructions on the activity then released to work on their own. Always under the watchful eye of their teacher.

Materials

A list of materials

Title

Procedure

Step by step instructions

Data

Graphs, charts, data tables, and pictures, observations

Variables

Manipulated variable-the factor that you change (independent).

Responding variable- the factor that changes as a result of the manipulated variable (dependent).

Results

Explain your data. Summarize what your data has shown.  List the main points that you learned. Why did the results occur?

Conclusion

Answer your problem/purpose statement. Was your hypothesis correct or incorrect? What is the value of your project? What do you recommend given the results of your experiment? What would be the next question? If you repeated this project what would you change?
