Thanks to our students efforts, and the initiative of the Stillman N.J.H.S. many families in our

Stillman Chess Champs
The Stillman Chess Team competed at the Paredes Chess Tournament this past weekend and brought home the 1st place team trophy in the under 1000 rating division.
 
Individual places were: 
Eric Gonzalez -13th place trophy
Javier Ruiz-Perez - 12th place trophy
Melissa Medina - 8th place trophy
Daniel Vital - 2nd place trophy

Stillman held its weekly Parent Meeting this Tuesday 18-Oct-11.
Mr. Alfonso Gutierrez Social Studies specialist was the guest presentor.
Parent meetings are held every Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. all parents are invited.

Selena Gomez, Michael Jackson, Elwood Blues, Justin Bieber, Sergio Martinez the boxer, some of the cast from Victorious and of course the Grand Lady Gaga!!

St. Jude's Childrens Hospital Wins!!!

Students at Stillman M.S. collected over $1200.00 to donate to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital.
The top three classes to collect the most money (center L-R) are Ms. Valdez, Ms. Pedraza, and Ms. Purcell.  Also pictured with the students are Ms. Casas Teacher assistant and Mrs. Luna-Zarate Dean of Instruction.
A great big thank you goes out to all students and teachers who participated in this collection.

Stillman Longhorn 1 Drone Team to compete at this years HESTEC in Edinburg.

Each year HESTEC hosts Robotics Day in which students from different schools compete using robotics. This year our students above will compete using the AR Drone. In this competition students are given 2 minutes to complete 6 different tasks with the drone. 1st place team wins an iPad 2, 2nd Plc. iPod touch, and 3rd plc. an iPod nano. Students have been practicing hard everyday after school.

Stillman Students are encouraged to think of their school career as 16 years instead of 12.
Deciding which colleges / universities they would
like to attend once they graduate from High School.
Mr. Rosales (art teacher) put together a unique collage of
schools he attended.

Stillman Band held auditions for Head Drum major and assistant Drum major this past week.
Competing were (l-r) Amber Cantu Flute, Tony Vidaurri Bass Clarinet, Neil Kiphen Cornet,
 David Orozco Tenor Saxophone, and Aryana Garza Clarinet.
