All had been hoped that the Los Ebanos School would be
ready for occupancy in September 1932, there was a delay
in the building schedule and Los Ebanos School was
finally occupied in January 1933. Mrs. Mabel Spikes was
the first principal and remained so until 1940 or 1941,
at which time Mrs. Kathryn Burns became principal until
1946. These two ladies were followed by Mrs. Alyff Todd
1946-48, Mrs. Cayborne Norris 1948-1949, Mr. James Webb
1949-50, Mr. Tom Keller 1950-52, Mr. Bruce Aiken
1952-54. Through this time, the school building
consisted of only eight rooms.
While
Mrs. Sharp was principal from 1953-63, four
more rooms and an auditorium were added to the school.
Upon her retirement in 1963, the school was renamed
"Gertrude M. Sharp Elementary" in her honor.
Since 1963, Six more principals and many more classrooms
have been added to the school. A new mini gym and a
canopy was built over the black top, has helped out students and
teachers participating in physical education. The
New Wing Building was build in 2004, for Pre-Kinder,
Kinder, Music, Nurse and Content Mastery.
Mrs. Jean B. Eckhoff was school principal from 1963-74,
Mr. J.D. Osborn 1974-94, Mr. Henry Kenneson 1994-98,
Mrs. G. Gracia 1998-2000, Dr. Irene Guille, as
