Dr. Ramon Vasquez

Assistant Director, High Brass Specialist, Jazz Orchestra Director

Dr. Ramon F. Vasquez is currently an assistant band director at Lopez High School. Prior to his appointment at Lopez High School, Dr. Vasquez was a freelance musician and had taught trumpet lessons at four high schools in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. Dr. Vasquez has also served on the staff at the University of Minnesota Marching Band and the faculty at Auburn University and the University of Minnesota Duluth. Dr. Vasquez has earned degrees from Northwestern State University of Louisiana, the University of North Texas and the University of Minnesota. His Primary teachers include Galindo Rodriguez, Dr. Leonard Candelaria, Keith Johnson, Dr. David Baldwin, Bobby Shew, and Manny Laureano. Dr. Vasquez has presented clinic sessions at Regional, National, and International music conferences, namely for the Alabama Music Educators Association, the Minnesota Music Educators Associations, and the International Trumpet Guild. He has performed and presented in the United States, Canada, Thailand, England, Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, and Switzerland. Dr. Vasquez has chaired multiple Jazz Solo Competitions for the International Trumpet Guild, chaired the 2009 ITG Composition Contest and served as adjudicator for the National Trumpet Competition from 1999-2009. From 2005-2008, he was included into Who's Who in American Education. Ramon holds affiliations with the International Trumpet Guild, Alabama Music Educators Association, Alabama Bandmasters Association, Pi Kappa Lambda, Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Kappa Kappa Psi, and the College of Music Society.
