INSTRUCTIONS

  • If you have not applied online previously, start as a ‘new user’. If you have applied online before, start as ‘have already applied’. Remember your password is case-sensitive.

    (Hint: If you are starting as a new user, DO NOT DOUBLE CLICK ON THE ‘SUBMIT BUTTON’. If you do, you will receive an error message that your SSN is on file. If this happens, go back to the application as  ‘Have Already Applied’, and enter the user login/password you have established.)

     
  • New applicants who have never applied online with BISD enter your SSN and establish a password.

  • Previous BISD applicants who have NOT established a password- Start as a ‘new user’. Establish your user login/password. The system may ask you for your home phone number as a security check. Enter it in the format shown. Enter your ten digit home phone number without dashes, hyphens, or spaces. If the system gives you an error message when entering your telephone number call the personnel office at (956) 548-8031 or 1-866-718-2525. It is possible that your current phone number is not contained in the applicant database.

(Hint: YOU MUST FILL IN ALL REQUIRED FIELDS. The required fields are noted with a red arrow.)

  • Certification: You can get a copy of your current certification from the SBEC web site, www.sbec.state.tx.us.   If you are on a standard certificate, be sure to enter the beginning and expiration date. HINT: If you have a life certificate, you will leave the expiration date blank. If you hold an Out-of State Certificate, please attempt to match your information with the choices listed. This link will be helpful to you in obtaining your Texas Certification.
     

  • Degree Information: Only enter universities where you earned a degree. If your major field is not listed, choose other and type it in.
     

  • Work Experience: Enter work experience starting with the most recent. If you have taught for 1 full year, you do not need to enter your student teaching information.

(Hint: Always enter the date in the format shown. If the example shows /’s enter them. If you have a problem with the date and it is not required, leave it blank.)
 

  • Reference Information: Three (3) written references from those persons who have supervised either the applicant’s teaching and/or work experience are required. For a person with teaching experience, one of the references must be from the most recent Principal/Appraiser. For a person with no teaching experience, one of the references must be from the most recent employer. It is the responsibility of the applicant to provide the evaluation form to references who will return the form to the Human Resource Department. Student teachers shall submit references from their cooperating teacher as well as from their university cooperating supervisor. All professional and teaching applicants must submit 3 references using these reference forms. *We strongly recommend including an e-mail address for each reference in order to expedite your application clearance or you can download the Reference Forms from the “Employment” page.

  • Employment History: Begin with your present or most recent employer and list all positions held, as they pertain to the job field for which you are applying.
     

  • Once you have submitted your application, you may go back to the application and make changes/deletions at any time. Keep your user id and password in a safe place. You may also keep your file active with BISD by going back to your application at the end of one year and resubmitting the application updating your information.  You must submit your application within six days of starting your application to avoid losing information already entered.  If you are unable to complete your application within the six days, please re-enter information lost.

    The easiest way to complete the application is to fill out each page and click ‘Continue’ at the bottom. The list on the left will keep you informed of your progress. The current section is indicated by [ ] and completed sections are indicated by a check [√].

    You may review your information at any time by revisiting the section or clicking the ‘Review’ link on the left. To save any changes you make while reviewing, you must click the ‘Continue” button at the bottom of the page for the change to be accepted. When all sections are completed, you may click the ‘Submit’ link at the left and your application will be sent to the Brownsville Independent School District Human Resources Department.

NOTE: You must click on the “Submit Application” button in order for your application to be received by the Human Resources Department.  BISD will email you confirming successful submission of your application to the email address provided on your application.

*Your application becomes active when all required documents and your online application have been received and verification of credentials/certification is completed.  IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE APPLICANT TO SUBMIT ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS.

Note:  If you are interested in another position after  completion of your application, please call Human Resources to notify them of any changes/deletions that you've made to your application to insure eligibility to new added positions.
