Hubert
R. Hudson takes pride in its Physical Education Department.
The department is dedicated to the development of the
overall child. Many sports and games are covered throughout
the year as to assure that each child grows up having
good social, affective, and cognitive skills along with
physical fitness.
The
Physical Education Department at Hubert R. Hudson Elementary,
through the implementation of innovative games, allows
each child to develop self-confidence, self-esteem and
excellent social skills. Self-discipline and respect for
others is also taught. Modified games from any given sport
help reinforce academic learning, strengthen group cooperation
skills, and encourage the mastery of physical education
skills on an everyday basis. From a very young age, children
are introduced to a broad selection of activities in order
to cultivate basic locomotion and social skills. The introduction
to these games and rhythmic activities will hopefully
create a lifelong enjoyment of physical fitness and physical
activities. Along with the everyday department curriculum,
the children are also given the opportunity in various
extracurricular activities and sports such as volleyball,
basketball, jump rope, track and field, and hoop shoot.
