The growth of Brownsville is certainly reflected by the growth of Vermillion Road
Elementary School. Built in 1979 and opened in 1980, the school was originally constructed with plans to hold 700 students. Over the years, the student population has almost doubled. Angel Martinez, Jr. was the school’s first principal. Vermillion Road Elementary School takes its name from its street location, Vermillion Road.
