BECHS NEWS

The first picture is of Shirley Munoz. She won the Rotary award for being an outstanding teacher. The second two pictures are of Lizza Hernandez (1 with her Crystal Apple Award) and the other with her Algebra class. This is a new award given by the BECHS Principal to that teacher who had 100% passing on the EOC. Lizza accomplished this with her Algebra class. We are very proud of her achievement. This award will be given each year to all those teachers who reach this 100% level in the EOC exams.

Dr. Esperanza Zendejas, Interim Superintendent, presented the BISD Superintendent's Scholarship of $1000 to Paulette Izaguirre, Keila Garcia, and Joceline Cerda-Salazar. (Clarissa Rivera not present).

Interim Superintendent Dr. Esperanza Zendejas has announced the winners of the 2015 Superintendent’s Scholarships. A total of 88 graduating BISD seniors will each receive $1,000 to attend the college of their choice.

The scholarship funds were raised at the 12th Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament hosted by Dr. Zendejas at the Rancho Viejo Resort on Saturday, May 9, 2015.

Scholarship recipients were selected by a committee of local community members and district personnel. Over 250 student applications were reviewed.

“The support of our sponsors has made this tournament one of the largest in the entire Rio Grande Valley. I sincerely thank the many businesses and organizations that generously donated to this event in order to provide scholarship funds for our 2015 high school graduates. It was a great golf tournament benefiting a worthy cause, our students,” said Zendejas.

Over the past 12 years, the Superintendent’s Scholarship Golf Tournament has provided $788,000 in scholarships to 687 deserving BISD graduates.

Dr. Zendejas will personally award the 2015 Superintendent’s Scholarships to the following seniors at special ceremonies which will be held at their respective high school campuses.
