On Saturday and Sunday, the Aiken Chess team competed in the Region VIII TCA Championships at Hanna High School.  We had two complete teams competing, K-1 and Primary JV.  We also had students playing in the Elementary JV, Elementary Championships and in the Primary Championships even though there were not enough students in these categories for a team status. Medals were given to those in 31^st to 60^th place and trophies were given to 30^th to 1^st place.  Team trophies were given to the top ten teams in each category.  There were over 1300 participants in this tournament.

Clarissa Martinez, J.P. Delgado, and Ana Gonzalez competed in the Elementary Championship division.  Samantha Ibarra, Alejandro Martinez, and Chris Mata competed in the Elementary JV division, and Hiram Loredo competed in the Primary championship division.

 The Primary JV division was represented by 17 students: Brandon and Rey Barron, Sebastian Cantu, Christian Davila, Andrei Diaz, Benjamin Garcia, Marco Ibarra, Jesus Longoria, Freida Luna, Tristian Mata, William Perez, Jonathan Robinson, Kevin Rojas, Rolando Sauceda, Marielena Schuetze, and Jorge Vasquez.  Sebastian Cantu received the 55^th place medal, Brandon Barron received the 53 place medal, and Marco Ibarra received the 36^th place medal.

The K-1 division was represented by 8 students: Jose Caballero, Pablo Cantu, Santiago Castillo, Vicky Delgado, Ryan Fraga, Diego Luna, Briana Mata, and Luis Sauceda.  Pablo Cantu from Mrs. Schuetze’s  pre-k class received the 48^th place medal, and Diego Luna from Mrs. Moreno’s kinder class received the 12^th place trophy.  The K-1 team received the 10^th place team trophy
