BISD VISUAL ART STUDENTS

PLACE IN STATE EVENT

The past weekend Texas Art Educators Association hosted the State Level meet of the Visual Arts Scholastic Event at the University of Houston Clearlake Campus in Houston, Texas.  The VASE competition begins with over 16,000 entries from across the State of Texas.   Only 10% of these entries are selected to advance to this state level event.  We are proud to announce that 7 BISD Visual Arts students had their Art work selected to advance to the State level.  6 of these students have been awarded superior ratings by VASE and received a gold medal for superior artistic work. 

The BISD State VASE participants are: Hanna students- Erika Delgado-Hernandez, Chelsea Guerra, Karina Mercado, and Sandra Garcia; Lopez student – Delissa Ahumada; Pace students – Erik Hernandez and Juan Gamboa.

Of the 16,000 entries only 4% are selected to with the Gold Seal award of Artistic Achievement.   We are proud to announce that Hanna High School Visual Art student Chelsea Guerra has been awarded the coveted Gold Seal Award.  Her artwork will become part of a traveling art exhibit for the next year.   Chelsea is the only student from Region 1 to earn this award.  She is also the first BISD Visual Art student to ever be presented with this honor. 

At the State VASE event students competed in the Student Scholarship Workshop.   Chelsea Guerra was awarded a $200 scholarship for her work in this workshop as well as her Superior Gold medal and State Gold Seal Award.  Congratulations to all the BISD State Level Visual Art students on their achievements.
