On Friday and Saturday, March 26-27, 2010, the Lopez and Porter Colorguards along with the Hanna, Lopez, Pace and Rivera Indoor Percussion Ensembles competed State competition. Lopez, Pace, Porter and Rivera competed at the 2010 Texas Educational Color guard Association Percussion State Championships held at Rivera High School. The Hanna Drumline competed at the TCGA State Championship in San Marcos. We are proud to announce that Brownsville schools had 2 groups ranked as State Champions and all of the BISD groups ranked in the top ten in the state in their division!!
The Lopez Color Guard earned 1st place-State Champion in the Scholastic AAA division and the Porter Color Guard earned 1st place-State Champion in the Scholastic Novice division. This marks the first time 2 BISD color guards have competed and also the first time our color guard students have earned the title of State Champion.
The Hanna and Lopez Drumlines both ranked 2nd in the state in their divisions. The Rivera Drumline ranked 4th and the Pace Drumline ranked 9th.
