BISD BANDS MAKE HISTORY AT UIL PIGSKIN MARCHING COMPETITION
The BISD School Board and Superintendent congratulate the Drum Majors and directors of the Brownsville High School Bands for their SUPERIOR performances.
On Saturday, October 17, 2009 marching bands from UIL Region 28 competed at the annual UIL Pigskin Jubilee Marching Contest in Donna, Texas. The bands represented their schools and communities with outstanding performances. 21 bands competed and were awarded UIL division ratings for the level of mastery demonstrated in their performances. These ratings are on a scale of 1 to 5, with a 1 or 1st division being the highest rating available.
We are proud to announce that for the first time in the history of BISD all 5 high school bands each earned perfect straight superior ratings with all 5 schools performing in conference 5A. It has been well over a decade since all 5 schools each earned straight superior ratings, and never before have all 5 accomplished this in conference 5A!
Each of the BISD Band programs gave exceptional performances as they represented the Brownsville School District, their programs, schools and the city of Brownsville in UIL competition. The results speak for themselves as the Bands all earned the highest ratings possible.
We congratulate all of the band students, directors, parents, school administrators, district administrators and the BISD School Board of Trustees for their commitment to these outstanding organizations.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!
