The Migrant Student Graduation Enhancement Program at the University of Texas in Austin will recognize 40 program participants from the entire State of Texas as Exemplary Migrant Students. Eight of those being honored during the 25th Migrant Student Recognition Ceremony on April 2, 2012 are BISD high school students. The students were selected for their academic achievement, participation in extracurricular and community activities, obstacles overcome and the students’ performance in regards to earning high school credits through distance learning. The BISD 2012 University of Texas at Austin Exemplary Migrant Students are:
*Aaron Mejia, graduating junior from Lopez High School has been named one of the five finalists
for the top honor of Migrant Student of the Year 2012. The final announcement will be done during
the recognition ceremony on April 2nd.
