21lst Century hosted an End of Year Family Engagement Event on April 28, 2016 and recognized parents who were crucial to the program's success due to their support and participation. The evening provided an opportunity for 21st CCLC staff, parents, and participants across all nine BISD centers to come together. About 350 participants attended the event which was a collaborative effort between district and community partners.






Castaneda Elementary's 21st Century 4th and 5th grade students, accompanied by their parents, had an incredible time during March 4th's Fun Family Friday gathering. Together they attempted great engineering feats of balance and showed wonderful teamwork and cooperative skills among themselves and with other families. 21st Century Site Coordinator, Mrs. Carmelita Perez, and 21st Century Teachers, Mrs. Casas and Ms. Arita, were excited and moved by the way the children and families worked so well together.












21st Century students and parents participated in numerous activities for January's Fun Family Friday held on January 22, 2016.

The Brownsville Museum of Fine Art cordially invited 21st Century CLC students and their families to take part of an art activity during an evening on Tuesday, December 15, 2015. Families were able to visit the museum exhibits free of charge and work on a project as a family to promote building relationships between a parent and child.










21st Century students had the opportunity to tour the University of Texas-RGV campus on November 14, 2015. Students explored the campus and learned about college opportunities that are available to them. The field trip tied into the classroom college readiness activities that are part of the 21st Century CLC curriculum.









The Lights On After School Rally was held on October 20th at Chick-fil-A on Boca Chica to spread the importance of afterschool programs for America's children, families, and communities.










21st Century students welcomed Luis Castillo from IBC Bank and Michael Castillo from the City of Brownsville Detention Center during Russell Elementary's Summer Career Day.













On June 14th, 2015, 21st Century held the 3rd Annual Boys' Symposium. Male students and their fathers listened to inspiring stories from guest speakers and participated in several Physics Circus activities.













On May 10th, 2015, 21st Century held the 3rd Annual Girls' Symposium to emphasize the importance of family relationships. Guest speakers shared inspiring stories and the UT-Brownsville Physics Department held various demonstrations.

Cromack Elementary 21st Century students and staff pulled together to show community support by making fruit baskets and holiday cards for Brownsville Police Department's Southmost Community Network Center.







Congratulations to the Castaneda Elementary 21st Century Chess team! The team received 1st place in their division for the past two Chess Tournaments held at Porter Early College High School Prep and Garza Elementary. Way to go!!!









21st Century students toured Texas Southmost College on December 6, 2014. Students were welcomed with a campus presentation and guided tour. This activity reinforced College and Career Readiness lessons being presented at 21st Century Community Learning Center sites.







Perkins Middle School 21st Century students show off their certificates of completion after taking part in an Hour of Code class taught by David Rivera. Hour of Code is a worldwide week initiative by Code.org designed to give students technology training through coding.










21st Century Community Learning Center sites held a Parent Share Fair as a culminating activity for their Fall College and Career class. Students researched careers and then had the opportunity to share with their parents the pennants, posters, and portfolios they created, while practicing their presentation skills.
















21st Century Students toured the University of Texas-Brownsville campus on Saturday, October 25th.
21st Century Students participated in several character building exercises and college awareness activities.
