Audit Notes

As part of the annual audit, the external auditors issue a Management Letter in which they point out areas of concern and make recommendations on their observations.  The following two areas of concern were pointed out pointed in  the August 31, 2004 and in the June 30, 2005 Management Letters.

• Federal ID Numbers:  It was brought to our attention that outside groups continue to use the BISD federal ID number.  Keep in mind that BISD is a tax exempt entity whereas booster clubs, PTA's, PTO's, scout troops,  etc. are non-profit organizations and must have their own Federal ID number.  Please let meet with your respective officers and inform them of this requirement.  Should your campus outside groups have any questions on how to get their Federal ID number, I ask that you please contact Ms. Claudia Ramirez, Accountant - Agency Funds, at (956) 554-2884.

• Dual Signatures:  All campus checks, elementary and secondary, must have two signatures before they are released.   Please make the necessary arrangements to have the campus principal and at least two other professional staff members on the signature cards for your bank accounts.
