The cornerstone of any aquatic educational program is the ability to maintain the staffing requirements to support the programs offered by the Aquatic Center. The Aquatic Center is an American Red Cross Aquatic Provider. The Aquatic Center offers continuing education courses throughout the year offering courses in water safety, aquatic management, and instruction this focus provides a vital link to insuring quality control in the services the center offers that include primary and recertification training for staff development and an ability to service the needs of our aquatic community.

BISD's association with the University Interscholastic League (U.I.L.) provides the framework in the districts Swimming and Diving  programs so that B.I.S.D. Aquatics can  develop into one of the premier competitive aquatic programs in the state. The Aquatic Centers total aquatic approach includes: University Interscholastic League for High School and Middle School students in Swimming and Diving.  The total  program approach will service swimmers and divers to be proficient in aquatic safety, fitness, and refinement in aquatic technique.

Whether you are simply looking for improved skills or if you want to be one of the top competitors in the nation, Brownsville ISD's Aquatic Center offers the competitive environment through its facilities and the U.I.L. aquatic programs.

The Margaret M. Clark Aquatic Center offers nationally recognized instructional aquatic programs such as the "Fundamentals of Swimming" aquatic program serving (3,670) second-grade students throughout the districts 32 elementary campuses and the Special Needs Aquatic Program or S.N.A.P including all 22 elementary and15 middle and high school campuses with Special Education populations serving (406) "Lifeskills" students as members and Aquatic Center shareholders.   Our philosophy of a total aquatic approach extends into this facet, and is the very cornerstone of our namesake's belief "swimming for all and safety for each".

The Aquatic Center is open for structured recreational use on a year-around basis. While still in development, the programs offered to the shareholders will provide limited access to the Aquatic Center but require membership into the Centers structured programs designed to provide the maximum accessible use of the facility throughout the school year and summer.
