Program
Description: To teach
Lifeguard candidates the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and
respond to aquatic emergencies. The course content and activities
prepare candidates to recognize and respond quickly effectively to
emergencies, and prevent drowning and injuries. Meets ECC
guidelines. This course includes CPR for the Professional Rescuer,
First Aid, Automated External Defibrillation (AED), Oxygen
Administration and Blood Bourne Pathogens.
Course Length: 31 hours
Prerequisites:
Be 15 years of age
by the end of the class. Pass a pre-course screening in swimming
skills. Such as a 300 yard swim (front crawl & breaststroke), 20
yard swim & brick retrieval from 7 - 10 feet water (TIMED-TBA) |

Lifegaurd Training Challenge |
Program
Description: This course is
for current lifeguards to update their certifications.
Participants will need to prove their practical skills and written
knowledge for a 3 year re-certification. Includes Lifeguard
Training, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED and First Aid.
Course Length: 9 hours

Lifeguard Management |
Program
Description: The New Lifeguard Management course provides aquatic
supervisors, lifeguard managers with the knowledge and skills to
effectively manage lifeguards and to keep patrons, lifeguards and
aquatic facilities safe. Participants will receive the Lifeguard
Management Participant Manual and a CD-ROM, featuring more than 60
in-service training outlines and forms to assist managers with day to
day responsibilities.

Fundamentals of Instructor Training |
Program Description: F.I.T. is the prerequisite for all
American Red Cross Instructor level courses. This course
includes teaching methods, instructor responsibilities and
effectiveness, student characteristics, concepts of learning,
records and reports, and ARC information and history.

Lifeguard Instructor |
Program Description: This courses teaches candidates the
information and skills necessary to teach lifeguard training,
lifeguard reviews and challenges, Basic Water Rescue, CPR/AED for
the Professional Rescuer, and also includes the "New" teaching
modules in Oxygen Administration, Blood Bourne Pathogens: Preventing
Disease Transmission and Automated External Defibrillation (AED).
All participants must pass written exam and practical skills tests
at the beginning of the course.

Program Description:
To prepare individuals to overcome any
reluctance to act in emergency situations and to recognize and care for
life-threatening respiratory or cardiac emergencies in adults, children
and infants. To also give individuals the knowledge and skills necessary
to recognize and provide basic First Aid care for injuries and sudden
illnesses until advance medical personnel arrive and take over.

Water Safety Instructor |
Program Description: This course teaches W.S.I. candidates the
information and skills necessary to teach the American Red Cross
Learn-to-Swim course, Parent and child Aquatics, Basic Water Rescue and
Water Safety Today. Participants will have to pass a practical
skills test at the beginning of the course and must display a general
competency in swimming.

and access to the Margaret M. Clark
Aquatic Center for duration not to
exceed the length of
the Continuing
Education Course in which the applicant
is a participant. This privilege is pursuant to Section III,
Subsection A:
Special Events “Career Development
Programs”
of the B.I.S.D. Community
Access Package approved by the B.I.S.D. School Board on
5-22-02.
It is also affirmed that by paying all fees
related to any Aquatic Center Program: Recreational, Competitive or
Educational the member will not
be entitled to any make-ups
or refunds after the program
is scheduled to begin. |
